Bergerac to #50shadesofFrance
We rise at 08h00 to not disturb our hosts too early. After a leisurely chat over breakfast we pack and get ready to leave greeting our hosts and extending the invitation to visit us so we can reciprocate.
As you can see I am dwarfed by the pro rugby players and even shorter than Mathilda, John’s beautiful girlfriend but I have got the halo!!
We then head into Bergerac to explore and also shop for the day ahead. Again we find so many beautiful old buildings so we stop and take photos which means progress is quite slow. We are now well ahead of schedule and will spend 2 nights with Jan and Andrea Jonker at Château Missier before heading down to the Pyrenees.
I am loving the beauty of the French villages and countryside we are cycling through at the moment. The villages all have small general dealers that have local produce that is so good and very reasonably priced as well.
We arrive at Château Missier and are so warmly received that I feel like I have arrived home. Thank you Jan and Andrea and of course Marie-Anne for arranging the stay with your parents.
We are so privileged to join them and their dinner guests Harris, Victoria, Zac and Leopold. The charming company and great meal was a welcome treat after being on the road for so long now. We chatted until almost midnight and then off to a very comfortable bed.
Tomorrow will be used to clean and wash everything and rest the legs for the assault on the Pyrenees and Alps.
I suspect by now the legs are ready for the real tour and I have been dreaming of the Alpine climbs……….!!!
