Day One:
Exit Knysna via Simola Golf Estate (a steep short climb), with views of the Knysna river and heads, through the Gouna State Indigenous Forest, past 300 year old Yellowwood trees, to the Garden of Eden. We may encounter wildlife such as bushpig, bushbuck and caracal, as well as many forest birds including the majestic Knysna Turaco. En route we pass a plantation of Canadian Redwoods. We spend the night on a guest farm on the forest fringes, where a late afternoon horse ride is optional.
Distance ± 70km
Day Two:
Upon leaving the guest farm, we continue through forest glades to the Harkerville Red Route, voted one of the world’s most spectacular bike trails. The route traverses coastal fynbos, indigenous forest, many rivers, rocky coastal paths near the cliff’s edge and thrilling single-track. A sit down lunch is served with a “frosty” on a rocky outcrop with spectacular views of the rugged coastline. Our back-up vehicle then transfers us back to town.
Distance ± 65 km
