We did not rise early but still started the day at 7am. We had lots of washing and priority today was to service the bikes.
My bike is a Surly Karate Monkey called “Big Orange” and was running so well that it only required a clean and lube. Suz’s Trek tourer has now broken a few more spokes so she took the back wheel to a bike shop to install 2 more spokes and true the wheel.
After a relaxing afternoon I cooked some curry and rice in David’s very smart kitchen. Michou came over in the evening and after dinner David showed us the footage of his North Pole expedition he had done at age 23. He is still the youngest person to have walked to the North Pole and I got a new appreciation of the beauty of this landscape as well as new admiration for someone so young to have achieved this immensely dangerous task.
I am therefore not surprised that he is doing so well in his career in anesthesiology.
We had an Aberfeldy whiskey as a sundowner at 11pm. This is seriously when the sun sets and starts rising around 3.30am.
Thanks David and Michou for your incredible hospitality and a wonderful stay.
Tomorrow we head direction Swineshead then down to London.
